THE ARTIST
A painter of quiet omens
A Lithuanian-American artist working in Hillsborough Township, New Jersey, near New York City, Jolanta Talaikiene paints in the tradition of European symbolism: moonlit processions, masked figures, and birds and fish that carry tiny windows, built up in patient layers of acrylic. Each painting holds a private story and gives it up slowly.
